Readers who enjoy a bit of romance will also enjoy this book. Jessica's sister Maryanne is getting married and driving her crazy with the wedding plans. Jessica has been unlucky in love...secretly pining for an old flame Colton. In an effort to help her family with the wedding she agrees to run errands, stopping at a local liquor store. Ignoring her instincts, she enters the store and disrupts a robbery in progress. Injured, she wakes up to a police investigation run by her past love Colton...who has never gotten over Jessica either. In order prevent spoiling the book let me just say that circumstances cause them to work together to solve more than just a liquor store robbery gone wrong, meanwhile resolving their feelings for each other and helping the the wedding go successful.I really enjoyed this book. I'm a sucker for when the narration is really good and you can completely lose yourself in the story. This was one of those for me. I thought it was well written and very enjoyable. I didn't see the end coming completely. I saw just one tiny thing coming the rest of it really took me by surprise and I love it when I don't have it all figured out after a few chapters. I loved the characters. I found a bit of myself in Jess and it made it fun to follow her along. Striving to prove herself completely independent, she only causes more problems for herself later. Maybe I shouldn't admit that... oh well. But I loved Jess. I loved what she was willing to put up with to help make her little sis's wedding perfect, even if it did mean wearing a horrendous dress. What I loved most about this book was it wasn't too serious. The funny parts didn't feel over the top either. It had a great balance of story and romance. This won't be my last Ellie Ferguson... This week, I've decided on yet another genre. Romance-Mystery. Yes, the Basset is going to read and review a Romance-Mystery novel. Egads! One of those Nurse Books of my Mom's! Well, yes and no. Yes in that my mother would have read this book and no, it's not a Nurse Book (even if the protagonists parents are doctors...). The book is Wedding Bell Blues by Ellie Ferguson and it's available from Amazon Books. The protagonist, Jessica Jones, is busy preparing for her younger sisters wedding, Oh Great Ghu! Not 300 pages of giggling girls and beefy men all enjoying a wedding! Shoot me now! Show me any guy that LOVES a wedding and I'll show him the door! I gritted my teeth and plodded onward.
