So I was surprised to realize that I had enjoyed Julie Andersen's other books as well.This book takes place in the year 1153. It was the era when the King or Queen had the power to force their subjects to do anything. Even get married against their will for King & Country. Which is how Simon & Gwyneth meet. I love, both Simon & Gwyneth. They are total opposites. Simon is a typical Male. He is very knowledgeable about what he does. Good at what he does. Has a sixth seance about danger and can read his opponents quite well. But he is totally clueless when it comes to society. He cant remember any female's name that has no association with him. Doesn't pay attention to what they are wearing. Doesn't believe someone outside the battle field, particularly in the ballrooms, can connive to be evil. He is a bit of an innocent, in that regard.
